Remedial Treatments
Remedial Massage
What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a targeted therapeutic approach that focuses on assessing & addressing musculoskeletal issues to alleviate pain and improve functionality - identifying, treating and 'remedying' specific problem areas.
Techniques used include deep tissue massage, targeted stretching, and joint mobilization, aimed at relieving tension, enhancing circulation, and promoting the body's natural healing processes.
Remedial massage is commonly employed to manage conditions such as chronic pain, sports injuries, and postural imbalances, offering a tailored and rehabilitative approach to improve overall well-being and restore optimal muscle function.
Dry Needling
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting thin needles into myofascial trigger points — hyperirritable spots within the muscle tissue that can cause pain and discomfort.
Unlike acupuncture, dry needling aims to induce a twitch response in the targeted muscle, stimulating a biochemical and physiological response to the muscle, promoting blood flow and triggering the body's natural healing processes.
This response also results in the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and may also help to disrupt the pain cycle by reducing muscle tightness and improving overall muscle function and range of motion.
This approach is integrated into comprehensive treatment plans, often combining exercises and other therapies to manage conditions like chronic pain, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Myofascial Cupping
What is Remedial Massage?
Myofascial cupping is a therapeutic technique involving the use of suction cups on the skin's surface to address issues within the fascia—a connective tissue surrounding muscles.
By creating a vacuum, these cups lift and separate fascial layers, promoting blood flow, and releasing tightness. This method aims to alleviate muscle tension, improve flexibility, and enhance overall tissue mobility.
The negative pressure created by the cups may also stimulate the body's natural healing response, reducing pain and inflammation. Myofascial cupping is often integrated into treatment plans for conditions like muscle pain, stiffness, and sports injuries, offering a unique and effective approach to tissue manipulation.
Lymphatic Drainage
What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in immune function and fluid balance.
By employing gentle, rhythmic strokes, this massage technique helps promote the movement of lymph fluid throughout the body, enhancing the removal of waste products, toxins, and excess fluid from tissues.
This process aids in reducing swelling, improving immune response, and fostering overall well-being. Lymphatic drainage is often utilized to support post-surgery recovery, manage edema, and enhance the body's natural detoxification processes.
Movement Therapy
What is Movement Therapy?
Movement therapy or Range of motion (ROM) focuses on enhancing and preserving the flexibility and mobility of joints and muscles. Tailored exercises and stretches are employed to improve the distance and direction a joint can move, promoting functional independence.
This therapeutic approach is crucial for preventing injuries, managing musculoskeletal conditions, and aiding rehabilitation after surgeries.
Range of motion therapy aims to optimize joint function, reduce stiffness, and enhance overall physical performance. It is often utilized in various healthcare settings, including physical therapy, to address specific movement restrictions and promote a full range of motion for improved daily activities and quality of life.
Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the principle that specific points on the hands, feet, and ears correspond to organs and systems throughout the body.
By applying pressure to these reflex points, skilled practitioners aim to stimulate energy flow, release tension, and promote balance within the body.
This non-invasive practice is grounded in the belief that the body's vital energy, or Qi, can be harmonized through targeted manipulation of these reflex zones.
Reflexology is commonly used to reduce stress, enhance relaxation, and improve overall well-being, offering a natural approach to support the body's self-healing mechanisms.
Relaxation Treatments
Swedish Massage
What is Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a classic therapeutic technique characterized by five key strokes: effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, and vibration.
Practitioners use these techniques to manipulate muscles and soft tissues, promoting relaxation and overall well-being.
Effleurage involves long, gliding strokes to warm up the body, while petrissage employs kneading to release muscle tension. Tapotement involves rhythmic tapping or percussive movements, friction targets specific muscle fibers, and vibration adds gentle shaking motions.
Swedish massage is known for its stress-relieving and muscle-soothing effects, making it a popular choice for those seeking relaxation and relief from everyday tension and fatigue.
Essential Oil Massage
What is Essential Oil Massage?
An essential oil massage involves the application of diluted essential oils onto the skin during a massage session.
These concentrated plant extracts, known for their therapeutic properties, are blended with a carrier oil to enhance absorption and ensure safety.
The massage combines the benefits of touch and aromatherapy, promoting relaxation, alleviating stress, and addressing specific concerns such as muscle tension or inflammation.
The aromatic elements of the essential oils add a sensory dimension, enhancing the overall massage experience for both physical and emotional well-being.

You would need to wait at least 6 weeks after any surgery before massage, and it is always good to check with your doctor to confirm that Remedial Massage is going to be ok and if there are any techniques or moves you should not do still after the 6 weeks.
Sadly, Massage during any cold or flu will only make your symptoms worse and it can move it around the body and cause it to even last longer.
Yes, there are remedial techniques that can help with bringing the inflammation down and open up the sinus area.
